Russia has issued a stark nuclear weapons warning to the world amid fears of a “global war.” Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said “only nuclear weapons protect the world from a global war”.
Speaking at the 12th Primakov Readings international scientific and expert forum, Mr Peskov said: “Now it (global security – TASS) is eroding from the point of view of many parameters. In fact, we have nothing else in the world apart from nuclear deterrence. It is the only thing shielding the world from a global war.”

He further said at the same time, nuclear deference “does not prevent regional conflicts, the potential of which, unfortunately, is on the rise.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has often used strong nuclear language during the Ukraine conflict, leading to criticism from Europe and the United States, which see it as risky and provocative.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has pushed for a new nuclear arms agreement that would also include China, even though its nuclear weapons stockpile is much smaller than those of Russia and the US, China has rejected this idea.
In response, Russia has said that if China joins such a deal, then US allies with nuclear weapons, like Britain and France, should be included as well.
