Meghan just made a killer move – now she’s ready to take her revenge_t

After years of shooting herself in both feet, the Duchess of Sussex is finally aiming in the right direction.

It’s hard to imagine now, but the British public once had high hopes for Meghan Markle. Her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018 was a box office smash, and there were hopes that this glamorous American actress would be a royal superstar. Then came Megxit. The Oprah interview. The accusations of racism. The royal rows. The “recollections may vary”. That memoir. Finally, Meghan and Harry fled rainy Britain for sunny California, and they haven’t exactly hidden their feelings about their old home since.

Now, astonishingly, she’s coming back. With a bang, as it turns out. Meghan is reportedly in talks to return to acting in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen. It’s a killer move. Nothing is signed, the third series hasn’t officially been commissioned and nobody knows what role she’d play. But here’s my advice. Don’t let this be a cameo. Make her the star. She’ll smash it.

I can see it now. Meghan plays an embittered American bigshot who returns to Britain after six years in exile to settle old scores. Her name? The Duchess. She arrives at Heathrow wearing sunglasses, flanked by her Montecito minders, and asks for directions to Kensington Palace. But she’s not just after royal blood. She’s back to take revenge on the British people who betrayed her. All of them.

The stiff upper-lip brigade. The palace courtiers. The press. The racists. The Brits who found her hugs “jarring”. The critics who called her Netflix series With Love, Meghan “an exercise in narcissism”. Anybody who expects her to curtsy.

The Sussex Survivors Club escaped with their lives. The Duchess won’t make the same mistake twice. The role practically writes itself. I genuinely think Meghan could be brilliant in this. And whether you like it or not, this could be brilliant for her.

She’s tried so many things since fleeing Britain, and they’ve all ended in disaster. But there’s one thing she can do. Act. Before marrying Harry, she played Rachel Zane in Suits for seven seasons. She knows how to deliver a line, work a camera and project star quality.

She’s no Judi Dench (although I reckon she’d make a great Lady Macbeth) but she’s more than a match for Guy Ritchie’s ensemble. She’s got more hair than Jason Statham, more back story than Robert Downey Jr and if she works on it, more charm than Vinnie Jones.

I can see the tagline: “She’s doesn’t forgive. And she never forgets. She’s the Duchess. And she’s back to rule Britannia.”

It would be a smash hit. Meghan was a disaster behind the camera, but in front of it, she’ll be gold dust. Netflix won’t need a marketing budget, her return to screen will sell itself.

All she has to do is show up, read her lines and try not to pick fights with the director, the cameraman, the runner and the key grip. Plus all the other actors she’ll be forced to share the spotlight with. Who will no doubt be forced to sign the tightest non-disclosure agreements in TV history. And accept that they’ll be traumatised for life. But there’s a sequel in that. I’ve already got the name: The Gentlemen’s Survivors Club.

Nobody grasses on the Duchess.

But what if Meghan finally learned to laugh at herself? That’s a very long shot, but if she embraced the irony, it could be glorious.

All it needs is a wink to camera as she guns down yet another racist, upper-crust Brit. Lock, stock and two smoking double-barrelled toffs. Ritchie would love to have her mowing down tabloid hacks. Meghan would love it too. She wouldn’t have to ask what her motivation was.

If Guy Ritchie can persuade her to do that, this could be the comeback of the millennium. Meghan Markle, gangster queen. The Duchess is landing. And Britain better watch its back.
