OPINION: Prince Harry may be fuming about the monarch’s latest move.
King Charles attends Ceremony of the Keys in Scotland
King Charles has a busy week in Scotland, but this has not stopped him from showing that family comes first in a move that may have upset Prince Harry. Amid his busy schedule this week as part of Royal Week, we would probably expect the monarch to put his feet up at the end of a day full of engagements.
Not on Tuesday, though. Instead, the monarch welcomed his nearest and dearest for an intimate family dinner, including his oldest son Prince William. All while Harry is just hours away in Portugal, stressing about how to bring his family to the UK safely to see the King. Hearing about the intimate family dinner will, no doubt, leave Harry fuming.

While it has been made clear that the King has no say or input in security decisions, it has long been hinted that Harry blames the Palace for the fact that he does not get armed police protection in the UK anymore.
In fact, he even hinted last year that his father had the power to change a lot of things, including security. And whether his children can safely visit the UK. This is not the case.
As it is presumed Harry still believes the notion that his father can click his fingers and solve everything, knowing instead that the monarch actually sat back for a cosy family meal while Harry’s UK trip with his family is up in the air, is probably not going down well.
But really, is that the King’s problem? I think not.

While the monarch may have unintentionally rubbed salt in Harry’s wounds, I don’t think he is to blame for anything.
He does not control who gets armed police protection in the UK, for starters. He has also reportedly offered Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet a stay at a royal residence during their UK trip.
You can’t get safer than that. Harry may be fuming, but if he is fuming at the King, then his anger needs to be redirected.
Because the monarch, by offering a royal residence, has done what he can to make the UK visit for his youngest son and his family safe. And he is more than entitled to enjoy a family meal with members of his family who, unlike Harry, haven’t publicly criticised him for years.
