The top crime hotspots in the UK have been revealed in new research. London made the list three times, while major cities and seaside destinations also featured in the top ten, according to data from the Office for National Statistics, analysed by CCTV training provider Get Licensed.
The number of homicides reached its lowest since the year ending March 2014, with 535 recorded over the past year. Offences involving knives or sharp instruments also decreased by 1% across the UK last year to 53,047.
These are the top 10 UK crime hotspots, according to lists compiled by Get Licensed and based on data from the ONS.

10. Newcastle-upon-Tyne
The hub of the north-east came in tenth position, with 116 offences reported per 1,000 people.
However, its statistics have improved year-on-year, with the number of offences reported having decreased by 4.89%.

9. Leicester
The Midlands city, home to more than 360,000 residents, came ninth for its crime rates, with 117.6 offences recorded per 1,000 people.
However, it also saw a reduction in the number of offences, down 6.3%, a greater rate than Newcastle.

8. Nottingham
Another Midlands city landed on the list, with a marginally higher crime rate than Leicester per 1,000 people.
Some 118.4 offences were recorded per 1,000 people over the year. Just like Leicester, its figures have decreased compared to last year, but at a lower rate of 2.33%.

7. Bristol
The southwest city, which has around 500,000 residents, had 132.3 offences reported per 1,000 people over the year, according to the analysis.
Its crime rates were also on the up. The number of offences reported increased by 9.37% compared to the previous year.
