Reform UK is set for another major snub by Keir Starmer as the government moves to appoint yet more peers to the House of Lords. The Express understands that Reform UK is once again not set to get any appointees in the upper chamber, despite having led every poll since April.
Sir Keir Starmer and other parties are set to appoint 33 new Lords, possibly as soon as next week, with the PM getting 24 of the new politicians. It’s believed Sir Keir wants to add new Labour peers in order to help get his legislation through parliament quicker. However other smaller parties will also receive new peers, including two for the Liberal Democrats.

The Tories have also nominated new appointments, which are made entirely at the behest of the Government.
Reform UK has not been approached to nominate names, despite Nigel Farage writing to Sir Keir requesting peers in August.
Mr Farage argued Reform should be entitled to representation in the upper house, given their national poll lead, to address the “democratic disparity”.
He argued it is unfair that parties with fewer MPs than Reform UK have representation in the House of Lords.
The Green Party, Plaid Cymru and UUP have 13 peers between them, while the LibDems have 76 peers despite winning just 12.2% of the vote.

It’s believed that among the names set to join the Lords in the new year will include Vaughan Gething, who served as Welsh First Minister for just four months last year before resigning over a sleaze row.
This move has sparked fury among Labour in Wales, with one Senedd member warning it could lose Labour the elections next may.
A Government spokesman said: “The process for appointments to the House of Lords follows established conventions.
“While political parties may make representations regarding peerage nominations, decisions are made in line with long-standing procedures.”
