Your Party reveals new name after two days of bickering – and everyone is laughing

One attendee, speaking outside the venue, told the Express that the options on offer had been “s***”.

The collective leadership vote was welcomed by Ms Sultana, who had called for more democracy in the movement.

Mr Corbyn had called for a single leader, and the vote raises questions about who will actually control the party going forward.

The votes came at the end of a weekend that exposed deep divisions within the fledgling movement before it had even settled on a name.

Ms Sultana refused to enter the conference hall on Saturday, staging a photo-op outside and accusing organisers of conducting a “witch-hunt” against socialists after Socialist Workers Party members were expelled.

On Sunday, she finally entered to deliver a blistering speech attacking the “undemocratic” leadership and warning the party must not become “Labour 2.0”.

Mr Corbyn had refused to call Ms Sultana a “friend” in a TV interview on the opening day of the conference, laying bare the rift between the co-founders.

Four hecklers were ejected from a pre-conference rally on Friday night, with activists outside branding Mr Corbyn “Right-wing” and accusing him of betraying Ms Sultana.

Members told the Express the movement was “fundamentally split” with disputes described as “existential” rather than merely factional.

The party now faces the challenge of uniting its warring factions and establishing who actually runs it, while preparing to fight future elections under its new name, which is the same as its old one.
