Migrants ‘ambush couple in car park and rape woman’ as helpless fiancé forced to watch

Police have arrested three men after a young couple were attacked in a park and an 18-year-old woman was raped while her fiancé was restrained and made to watch.

The assault took place on October 25 in Tor Tre Teste, a park in eastern Rome, Italy. Police say the couple, both Italian, had parked their car in a secluded area when a group of men surrounded the vehicle and smashed a window.

Officers said the couple had been naked before the incident began.

Investigators report that the attackers first pulled the 24-year-old man from the car, then forced the woman out as she tried to cover herself with an item of clothing.

According to the man’s account, he was held down by two attackers while his fiancée was dragged a short distance away and sexually assaulted.

He told police he screamed for help, begged the attackers to stop and even threatened revenge, but was unable to break free.

After the assault, the attackers fled, taking the couple’s belongings. Police confirmed the incident began as a robbery.

The couple immediately contacted the police and filed a report. Officers said the pair were terrified and confused and added that it was possible that up to five attackers were involved.

Two Moroccan men were traced by Rome’s Flying Squad and arrested within days of the attack.

A third suspect, also Moroccan, was located in Venice and detained a few days ago. Investigators said the arrests were kept from the public while officers continued gathering evidence, including fingerprints recovered from the shattered car window, which matched the men now in custody.

All three have been arrested on charges of gang rape and robbery. Police say the investigation remains open as they continue to determine whether additional suspects were involved. A detective confirmed that “the investigation isn’t closed.”

Officers are continuing to examine evidence and are appealing for any information that could help identify further individuals connected to the attack.
